The regular season came to a close for the Maumee volleyball team with a 3-0 loss at rival Perrysburg, but Panthers coach Lindsay Vannett doesn’t think it will affect her team moving into the postseason.
“It was a let down, but we had just had four really good matches before that,” she said, “so it was a let down, but not to the extent that it would affect us going forward.”
The Yellow Jackets won 25-16, 25-21, 25-13. The Panthers finished their regular season 15-7 overall and 7-7 in the Northern Lakes League.
In their first meeting of the year, the Panthers put Perrysburg to the test in a 25-21, 25-22, 28-26 decision. The second meeting didn’t go quite as well, according to Vannett.
“We didn’t do some things the second time around that we did the first that put us in a position to potentially get the win,” Vannett said. “We didn’t keep their hitters out of position, we didn’t serve as aggressively as we could, too many errors at the wrong time.”
Jolie Sobb led Maumee with 10 kills and 10 digs, while Brynn Brown had six kills, 12 digs, and a team-high 12 assists.
Camy Wedge and Beth Brady each had two service aces, and Brady led the Panthers with 14 digs.
