Maumee took the lead late in the game in a 3-1 victory over Northview on Friday. Maumee got on the board in the first inning when Matt Butler drew a bases-loaded walk, scoring one run. Northview evened things up at one in the bottom of the first inning when they scored on a Strebler single.
The game was tied at one with the Panthers batting in the top of the sixth when Austin Pauken singled to score RJ Durliat. Caden Brookshier added another run to the board by scoring Pauken on a single of his own.
The pitching was strong on both sides. Pauken struck out six, while surrendering one run on four hits over seven innings. Brady threw well for Northview, giving up zero runs on three hits over four innings, striking out three. Crooks took the loss in relief, allowing two runs on three hits over two innings of work.
Maumee totaled six hits on the afternoon. Evan Barker and Zach Marvin each racked up multiple hits for the Panthers.
