Maumee High School vs Start High School
5 0

On a beautiful night, the Start Girls Tennis Team came to Maumee to play the Lady Panthers. Coaches Liz Moulton from Maumee and Matt Damshroeder from Start are good friends, having worked together teaching for the USTA at the Toledo Public Schools and The University of Toledo for Adults, so this match up was very friendly.

Maumee came from behind in terms of their doubles courts and took this match 5-0. Start decided to switch their line up and play their singles players at doubles, and this strategy almost worked, but the Panthers showed how determination and consistent play could mean success.

At #1 singles, Cazie Durham dominated against Minnicozzi by a score of 6-0, 6-0.

At #2 singles, Claire Waller dominated over Kendra Beaverson 6-0, 6-0

At #3 singles, Julia Becker showed some true poise while beating Pakulski 6-3, 6-0. Julia played really well in the second set here.

At #1 doubles, Lindsey Krist and Allie Karrenbauer beat the singles players Williams/Muir 7-6, 6-0. Kudos to this team for sticking in there and accomplishing the task!

At #2 doubles, Kayla Harrigan and Makayla Gast overtook Poland/Kitian in a third set tie breaker by a score of 2-6, 6-2, 1-0. The tie breaker was very close and these two showed their determination in this match.

The Maumee Girls are now 2-1 and play tomorrow at Wauseon.
