What a beautiful night for a tennis match where the venue couldn’t have been more relaxing and serene. The Maumee Panthers Ladies Tennis team came to the Wauseon public park tennis courts to play what proved to be a fun, stress-free tennis match. Maumee beat Wauseon by a score of 5-0 and really showed themselves tonight by everyone coming together to prove themselves on the tennis court.. The park they played at was very pretty with towering oaks and a stream where at least one ball found it’s fate.

At #1 singles, Sophomore Cazie Durham showed her confidence on the court by overtaking Alisa Shult, a Senior by a score of 6-2. 6-3. Cazie continues to prove how hard work can pay off. Congratulations to Cazie for such a consistently played match.

At #2 singles, Senior Co-Captain Claire Waller beat Sam Aeschlsman by a score of 6-0, 6-1. Claire played really well and Coach Liz Moulton called her “her hero” for just playing great.

#3 singles saw Freshmen Julia Becker consistently keep the ball in play versus Julie Waldron, a Senior. Julia Becker won 6-0 6-0.. Coach Moulton simply can’t give enough credit to how Julia continues to improve each and every match. “Tonight the message was to control the match,” said coach Liz, and Julia did just that. Look for great things from Julia Becker!

The #1 doubles court saw Lindsey Krist and Allie Karrenbauer beat Sierra Rupp and Paige Smith by a score of 6–0, 7-5. The Maumee duo really played well tonight and Coach Moulton sees this match as a test to their dominance. When their first serves went in, all points seemed to favor Maumee.

The #2 doubles court saw Maumee’s Kayla Harrigan and Makayla Gast win over Alizia Kudlica and Caitlyn McDonough by a score of 6-1. 6-0. This match showed the patience Maumee seems to covet while doing their job on the court. Coach Liz pointed out that Kayla really can play well when she simply gets her first serve in. Makayla showed her skills also in this match.

It should be noted that Sophie Garber won her match by a score of 8-6, and Leah Kenyon also won tonight in the Junior Varsity match. Both players played really well.

Maumee is not 3-1 and plays their next match this Monday at home vs. Woodward.
