Tonight the Maumee Girls Tennis Team travelled to Sylvania Southview and got beat by a score of 5-0. The weather was really windy, which contributed to the difficulties Maumee had to face.

At #1 A. Blackford of Sylvania Southview beat Makayla Gast by a score of 6-2, 6-0. Blackford used her topspin as a weapon to defeat Makayla tonight. Makayla should be commended for keeping the points going and never letting down.

#2 Singles E. Allen beat Kayla Harrigan 6-0, 6-0. The score in this match doesn’t properly tell the story of the rallys and competitive play between these two opponents, however. Kayla matched her opponents strokes and simply wasn’t as consistent which led to her loss.

#3 Singles M. Galambos beat Laura Demagall 6-0, 6-0. This was Laura’s first match at the Varsity level and her showing was as to be expected for her first match. Kudos to Meg for keeping the ball low and at Laura’s body.

#1 Doubles S. Rees/A. Kim of Southview beat Jane Mavis/Sophie Garber 6-0, 6-0. This court was closer than the score indicated, also. Serving seemed to be the problem in this loss, but the points were all good.

#2 Doubles G. Lowenstein/Y. Lee beat Cora Boyles and Camren Ray 6-1, 6-0. The freshmen duo from Maumee are improving each week.

Look for the Lady Panthers to play Springfield on the Tuesday after Labor Day at 430.
