The Maumee Lady Panthers travelled to Anthony Wayne tonight to play only the second match on the Generals new courts but lost 5-0 to a very disciplined hard hitting AW team.

#1 Singles saw Emma Nofziger beat Makayla Gast 6-0, 6-0. Makayla should be commended for hanging in on every single point and going for all of the balls.

#2 Singles was won by AW’s Elizabeth Seiple 6-1, 6-0 over Jane Mavis. Coach Moulton said that “Jane really held her own in this match, and made it really difficult for her opponent!” Improvements by Mavis, especially keeping the ball deep were noted by the Maumee coach.

#3 Singles- Kelsey Verhoff of AW beat Leah Kenyon by a score of 6-0, 6-0. Leah did a great job of keeping the ball in the court and her serves were good.

#1 Doubles was won by the AW team of Ashley Hartzell and Grace Skiliter over the dynamic Maumee duo of Kayla Harrigan and Sophie Garber by a score of 6-3, 6-1. This match was really a fun one to watch because in the early part of the first set, Maumee looked like they were red hot and their opponents showed a look of disillusionment as they began making unforced errors. Kudos to the net game of Kayla Harrigan in this match and both girls being able to hit the hard serves back with no problem. Although AW won, Coach Moulton said the Maumee’s performance should be applauded.

#2 Doubles Kassidy Pittman and Jordyn Foukes of AW beat Cora Boyles and Camren Ray 6-0, 6-0. Cora and Camren continue to improve and should be proud of tonight’s effort.
