The Panthers boys’ soccer team were on the road again and faced off against the Napoleon Wildcats on Tuesday. Maumee scored quickly in the first half with a goal when a free kick by senior forward Kyle Robinson was deflected into the net by senior forward Braden Wagener. Solid, aggressive play by sophomore defender T. J. Carney and sophomore midfielder Chipper Studenka kept the ball on Napoleon’s side of the field, but the Wildcats tied up the game late in the first half to make it a 1-1 tie.
Maumee picked up the pace in the second half, however, as the offense exploded with another goal by Wagener, assisted by sophomore Colin Wedge, as well as a score by senior midfielder Luke Metzger. Robinson scored two more goals of his own, one assisted by Wagener, and another by Studenka, and the game ended with a resounding 6-1 victory for Maumee.
