With the score tied 47-47 with more than 5 minutes to go in the game, the Wildcats went on a 20-1 run to finish the game (67-48). Northview the 7th ranked D-I team in the state, connected on 5 of 7 three-pointers in the final minutes of the game to prevail against our Panthers.
The Panthers playing in back to back games against ranked teams (Wauseon, 64-55 loss) gave it their best effort as they were leading after the first quarter 19-18. However, Northview took a one-point lead at halftime (28-27) and a two-point leading after three quarters (45-43). The Panthers continue to demonstrate a strong defense as they held the high flying Northview team under the scoring average. The defense was led by Eli Augustyniak and Robert East as they held last year’s NLL player of the year in check most of the night.
Offensively the Panthers shot well and connected on 7 of 11 three-pointers for the game. However, Northview made some good defensive adjustments in the 4th quarter to hold Maumee to just 5 points in the 4th quarter. Leading the Panthers in scoring with a great night of shooting was Luke Metzger with 22 points on 9 of 14 shooting. Garret White chipped in with 7 points and 4 rebounds, Eli Augustyniak scored 6 points, Jared Jensen netted 5 and Sam LaChapelle totaled 4 points & 7 boards.
Overall the Panthers fell to 3-10 and 0-7 in the NLL. Their next game is Friday, January 25th against the team across the river at Maumee.
