The season came to an end as Toledo Scott beat Maumee 69-53. In a tightly contested game through three quarters, Scott put up 27 points in the 4th quarter with clutch shooting and making their free throws to break the game open and win.
After Scott open the night with a 5-0 run Maumee went on a 12-0 run of their own to build a 7 point lead (12-5). This is when Scott made some changes to their defense and went from man-to-man defense to a 2-3 zone defense. This forced Maumee to adjust as well but they could not get things going until late in the third quarter. Scott capitalized on Maumee’s turnovers (that resulted in easy transition points) to build a comfortable lead.
David Walker paced Maumee with 22 points; Garret White added 12 points & 8 rebounds; Cole Graetz totaled 7 points & 4 assists; Mike Pacer posted 4 points & 4 rebounds and Reed Geiger (4 rebounds) & Zach Freeman each scored 3 points, despite tonight’s season-ending loss to Scott.
-Both teams shot about 48% from the field.
-Scott hit 8 three-pointers on 27 attempts. Maumee did not make a three-pointer in 6 attempts.
-Both teams shot well from the free-throw line (Maumee 13 of 18) (Scott 13 of 17).
-Maumee turned the ball over 15 times which resulted in 19 points for Scott. This plague Maumee all year.
