After getting beat pretty handly (38-81) by Anthony Wayne in their first matchup back on December 20th, Maumee played inspired basketball throughout the night but ultimately lost 52-66. The second quarter is where the Generals built a commanding lead and went into half time leading 40-22 by hitting 6 three-pointers.
The second-half adjustments and better shooting brought the Panthers back to down 10 with just under 4 minutes to go in the game (56-46)m however, the Generals connected on some timely buckets and nailed their free throws to seal the victory.
-After giving up 40 points in the first half the Panthers clamped down on defense in the second half, holding A.W. to only 26 points.
-The Panthers shot 54% from the field, while A.W. shot 46%. However, the Generals connected on 7 three-pointers to Maumee’s 1.
-A.W. out rebound Maumee 34-23 as they then turned that into twelve second-chance points.
– After averaging 19 Turnovers per game in the first 15 games the Panthers have reduced that to 11 and 10 turnovers in the last two games.
David Walker paced Maumee with 20 points & 2 rebounds; Garret White added 13 points & 5 rebounds; Mike Pacer had 9 points & 7 rebounds and Reed Geiger (4 rebounds) and Zach Freeman both netted four, despite tonight’s loss to Anthony Wayne (11-7).
