The Panthers started off with an 11-0 lead and never looked back in a 75-52 win to Bowling Green. With the score 15-5 after the first quarter, the Panthers scored 23 points in the 2nd quarter. This was ignited by Garret White dunking and extending the lead to 38-18. The Bobcats stormed out after halftime and brought the lead down to 8, however, the Panthers made some adjustments and started the fourth quarter up by 12.
There was a great display of team chemistry tonight as the Panthers made 57% of their shots and 21 of 34 free throws (62%). This was Maumee’s first league victory of the season against a good team. The defense was impressive, holding the Bobcats to under their scoring average. This was led by Eli Augustyniak and Sam LaChapelle (8 rebounds).
But tonight the offense was the key to this victory. Leading the Panthers was David Walker with 27 points (4 assists, making 9 of 12 FT’s), Luke Metzger 18 points (5 assists, 6 rebounds), Jared Jensen with 9 points, Garret White with 8 points (16 rebounds, 3 block shots, and 2 dunks).
Overall the Panthers sit at 4-12 and 1-8 in the NLL. Next week the Panthers play @ AW on Tuesday and @ Springfield on Friday.
