Multiple Teams · Alumni Basketball Game Opens Door to Winter Season


The 4th annual Alumni Basketball Game was held Saturday, November 11th at Maumee High School. The event featured over 45 MHS graduates from 1978 thru 2017 and was popular enough to feature a doubleheader . . . ’78 thru ’10 grads played in game #1 and ’11 thru ’17 grads played in game #2.

In game #1, the purple outlasted the black by a score of 85-68.  Winning team members included Scott Sund ’80, Keith Backus ’81, Brenda Neyhart Childers ’86, Mike Shull ’86, Angie Walton ’90, Katie Kain ’90, Sarah Neyhart Freeman ’90, Mike Porter ’94, Robbie Michalak ’05, Chad Sund ’06, Lindsey Diegel Turner ’07 and Max Ocke ’10.  The black team consisted of Brett Krewson ’78, Jennifer Farthing Hedges ’89, Su Sherwin ’91, Steve Kosmatka ’91, Bridget Bock ’97, Liz Bock ’97, Erik Jorris ’00, Matt Peternel ’02, Jay Hall ’09, Emily Junga ’10 and Jon Hall ’10.

In game #2, the black team edged out the purple by a margin of 72-68 despite a late-game run.  The black team was led by Devann Sund ’11, Maddie Walker ’11, Bre Wojnarowski ’11, Kurt Kolbow ’11, Kaylyn Quiniff ’13, Joeal Olman ’13, Kristie Reisig ’15, Emily Krewson ’15, Jason Matcham ’15, Brendan Callahan ’15, Hunter Thomasson ’17 and Jamees Braithwaite ’17.  The purple team was led by Lyndsey Krewson ’12, Kayla Thomasson ’12, Julia Mauro ’12, Zack Cliff ’13, Jason Wanamaker ’13, Abigail Schultz ’15, Lauren Bailey ’15, Chelsea Higgins-Bradfield ’15, Evan Cliff ’16, Logan Hazard ’16, Austin Calopietro ’16 and Noah Ranes ’16.
