The Maumee girls cross country team placed 31st at Saturday’s Cross Country Carnival held at Tiffin’s Hedges Boyer Park. The Lady Panthers were led by freshman Abi Smalley who covered the 5-kilometer course in a career-best 22 minutes, 2.1 seconds to capture 50th-place in the Division II-B race. Fellow freshman Lexi Szyndler (24:40) also turned in a career-best performance in taking 159th place. Junior Jordan Saleh was 172nd in a season-best 25:05.6, while Junior Lilly Daughton was 195th in 27:02.6 and Junior Angelina Alvarado was 213th in a season-best 31:02.9. The Panthers will run at the Chet Sullwold Invitational next Saturday at Toledo’s Ottawa Park, hosted by St. Francis High School.
